Bonnie Ann Smith Sylvester, 75, of Hyannis Port, MA died gracefully on Saturday, August 19, 2017. She was an active member and Past President of the Hyannis Rotary Club as well as Past Assistant District Governor of Rotary District 7090. She was very involved with the Nicaragua Rotary International project.

She was one of six siblings born in Tewksbury. She lived in Upton before moving to Hyannis Port 30 years ago. Bonnie attended Narragansett High School in Templeton where she met her High School sweetheart and future husband, Gary Sylvester. Bonnie and Gary have provided scholarships for the last 15 years to the High School's graduating seniors in honor of both their parents.

Bonnie was President of the Real Estate Book of Cape Cod which she founded in 1987. She was an active member and Past President of the Hyannis Rotary Club as well as Past Assistant District Governor of Rotary District 7090. She was very involved with the Nicaragua Rotary International project. As part of the project, Bonnie traveled to Nicaragua five times to distribute Christmas gifts to the Nicaraguan children who attended school.

After her retirement, Bonnie and Gary enjoyed traveling; together they traveled to the majority of the US states and made several trips to Europe and Canada.

Bonnie was an excellent cook. In addition to baking she was a frustrated gardener, enjoyed puzzles and was a big Patriots fan. Above all else Bonnie loved spending time with her family.

Bonnie is predeceased by her parents Herbert and Jessie Smith, her son Mark Guy Sylvester (2001) and daughter Lisa Marie Cormier (2002). She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Gary Sylvester, adored daughter Kristin (and wife Linda) Myers of Marstons Mills, MA; dear daughter-in-law Elizabeth Sylvester of Hopkinton, MA; and loving grandchildren Brittany Myers of Ohio, Emily Myers of Marstons Mills, MA, Alexander Houston of Marstons Mills, MA and Napoleon Sylvester of Hopkinton, MA.

Visiting hours will take place Friday, August 25th from 4 p.m. to 7 pm. at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main St., Hyannis, MA 02601. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 26th at The Federated Church of Hyannis, 320 Main St, Hyannis, MA 02601 followed by burial in Beechwood Cemetery, Centerville, MA.
